Why doesn't Mugabe just die already! Preferably it would be by taking a bullet through the head after being prison raped(the Abu Ghraib treatment), but I'll settle for natural death. The point is that Bob has got to go! He's destroying Zimbabwe with this megalomaniac Stalinistic behavior. This asshole has gone from being the hero of liberation to just being another two-bit dictator.
You can F@ck with a my television - you can F@ck with the newspapers - but don't you dare F@ck with my internet access! That's just going to far!
And to all you arrogant snotty-nosed Americans who thinks that things such as this cannot happen here....well...THINK AGAIN!
I've seen the handwriting on the wall - Patriot Act anyone?
Just in case you didn't know that the kids of Tehran aren't that different from the kids in your home town.
I enjoy articles like this because it cuts away the BS about the people who live within Islamic societies. These are normal human beings who have similar wants and desires to Westerns. View any Iranian New Wave film in you need some more convincing.
Seriously though - I can't speak for you, but I know that I could use a nice young/tight zero kilometre in my life! Oh boy, could I ever :-)
When you read articles such as the following you begin to realize how historically recent events such as the American Civil War actual are. The war ended 139 years ago, but considering that there are over 60,000 Americans age 100+ that isn't that long ago.
Sounded like the old gal was a rebel to the end. I only wish that the Southerns would bury that Confederate flag for good along with this woman. Heritage my ass!
Model posts...admit it...you thought I forgot!
It feels like it has been 10 years & a day since I last did a model post - sorry about the wait - I know that I said that I wanted to do more of them, and I will once I get off my ass.
Everything started to go wrong when I got sidetracked by the technical difficulties I was having with an Audrey Tautou page I was trying to create - difficulties that I eventually managed to solve - but then I became fixated on writing a critical review of the film Amelie as a companion to the Tautou page - a critical review which I never got around to finishing - at this rate the review should be done this time next year.
Are you confused yet? Ok, let me shut up - here are the babes - Sunshyne from sunshyneonline.com, Emery Yoshikawa, and Yuka.
This really strikes me as the right thing to do this Memorial Day - get down on our hands and knees and beg the Iraqis for forgiveness for the destruction of their country. Just to show that I'm serious I'll go first:
I want to send my apologies to every citizen of Iraq for the violence perpetrated against you by the American military. I pledge my support for the use of American tax dollars for the reconstruction of your loss property, and to help you create a government for the benefit of your people.
I'm sincerely sorry for our collective stupidity.
Wow, that felt good. You should try it :-)
I have an extreme distaste for using internet news sources which aren't archived free and permanently on the net. This is the reason why I try to use sources such as CNN, or the BBC, and ultimately what lead me to drop the Christian Science Monitor. CSM articles are only free for a few weeks - after which they go into the pay-per-view archive. Damn shame since I really like the quality of the CSM articles. With the help of the of the newspaper archives on the SLA News Division Website I managed to find two new quality sources of free news - The San Francisco Chronicle, and The Guardian. There is no doubt that I'll continue to add more news sources through my future web-wanderings.
Keep watching.

A New Prime Minister for Iraq
Looks like we have truly entered the post-Saddam era.
A senior Bush administration official in Baghdad confirms Allawi will be the interim prime minister of Iraq.
"It is a historic moment," said this official, speaking on condition of anonymity. "This has been a process of full-blown democratic politics."
He can't be serious. A small group of hand-picked pro-American collaborationists choose a Prime-Minister, and that is his idea of real democratic change? Let's wait for the general elections before we start with the proclamations.
One thing is certain - Allawi better make sure his bullet proof vest is on extra tight, and his ride always comes with armor plating. Something tells me that he may be a target.
As if we needed any more proof that we're getting closer to the complete end of common sense - Frontline reports that the music business is cut-throat!
What has happened to our journalistic institutions? Is the lure of the simple story that great? Looks like it's time for Lowell Bergman to go back to 60 minutes!
Yeah, I'm still blaming Bergman for the downfall of one of my favorite shows. Hell, I don't even know if he's still with Frontline - or his exact function with the show. But he's the only Frontline personality that I know of - so screw him if he's responsible for how crappy it has become!
How's that for logic?
Feels like it's time for me to watch The Insider again. God I love that movie.

It's been a week or more since I last contacted a woman online - If you think that I've somehow lost interests in the chase ...well...think again! More than likely the real reason is just pure laziness on my part. But today I found something that may get things cracking again.
Let me paint the picture - while cleaning out old porn bookmarks lost in one of my studious internet searches for information, I stumbled onto a new web community called Paxed (does it sound like some type of medication, or is it just me?) It's another one of those College Club/Black Planet/Asian Avenue/Migente/ or some other loser site/ that I'm already so familiar with. Maybe I'll decide to hang around if it's not too boring.
Yeah, like I'll liven things up...
Serena Williams...again!
I've told you before that most of the search engine hits I receive are from people looking for pictures of Serena Williams' derriere. Well this new hit sort of broke the monotony.
I guess not everyone in cyber-space is obsessed with ass, huh?
The Controversy Over Elbert Hubbard
(from a recent email correspondence)
CG: Cool quote*
"To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing."
-- Elbert Hubbard
DH: I really hope that you're kidding about that quote being cool - it's TERRIBLE!
It advocates a passivity that I just can't understand. Do you remember our discussion on being passive? This is something that I still struggle with, but I'm glad to say that I'm further along in my development then Elbert Hubbard. And what's with this fear of criticism? F@ck all the opinionated a$$holes in the world - and their mothers too (yeah, I'm dissing their moms - it's a Black thing :-)
Being nothing isn't a solution to any problem - it IS the problem.
Believe that.
CG:Yeah I realized that the quote can be taken in 2 ways but actually I was thinking about it in the optimistic sense. In other words, to avoid criticism you'd have to be a stone or a vegetable or something. And being any of the 2 isn't worth it. I'd rather try something and fail at least knowing I have experimented. Risks are worth it and the criticism is something that comes with the territory.
DH: You don't have to apologize - even though I disagreed with your viewpoint - you're entitled to your own opinion.
It's kind of funny when you think about it. A quote about criticism actually leads to more criticism!
I found a short bio on Elbert Hubbard. He died in a submarine attack:

I'm really disappointed with what the PBS program Frontline has become. At one time it offered some of the best investigative reporting on television. Now it's just a load of un-opinionated fluff - especially when dealing with the Bush administration. I just got finished watching Frontline's "The Jesus Factor". I wanted to see an expose' on the dangers posed by our governments' gradual tilt toward Evangelical Christianity. Instead all I saw was a timeline of the spiritual growth of George W. Bush.
Great programming :-(
Hey, didn't that guy Lowell Bergman from the movie The Insider go to Frontline? Maybe he's gone on another crusade - only this time in the wrong direction.
Why I Don't Support the War In Iraq
I've read over a thousand articles on the war in Iraq, but nothing has affected me as much as the recent Sacramento Bee interview with Jimmy Massey. It crystalizes everything that is wrong with our current Middle-East policy. We should all applaud Jimmy Massey. Not for his deeds in Iraq, but for the courage he has shown in telling the truth about his war experiences.
This is the human tragedy of Iraq:
Every car that we lit up we were expecting ammunition to go off. But we never heard any. Well, this particular vehicle we didn't destroy completely, and one gentleman looked up at me and said: "Why did you kill my brother? We didn't do anything wrong." That hit me like a ton of bricks.
But just as sad is the ecological tragedy that is unfolding:
Well, if a tank gets hit, crews are detained for a little while to make sure there are no signs or symptoms. American tanks have depleted uranium on the sides, and the projectiles have DU in them. If an enemy vehicle gets hit, the area gets contaminated. Dead rounds are in the ground. The civilian populace is just now starting to learn about it. Hell, I didn't even know about DU until two years ago. You know how I found out about it? I read an article in Rolling Stone magazine. I just started inquiring about it, and I said "Holy s---!"
All in the name of freedom and democracy.

Other Fish - the list
This is a list of the female friends, or potential lovers, that I have lost contact with over the last few years. I've had a need to create this list for some time to help keep record of what has happened in my life, and as a pathetic dime-store attempt at self-therapy.
Susan - curly haired chinese bookstore clerk - with a rump that looked fantastic in a pair of tights - last I heard you were attending NYU (?)
Erin - gummy-smiling political science major from Arizona with a great ass. Are you still in Washington, DC? You also talked of graduate school in Texas? The most intriguing possibility is that you made good on your promise to try to break into the entertainment business.
Crystal - you're a cute, and intelligent Irish chick with a strong liberal streak.
Kenya - Erin has a great ass - you had a monumental ass - emphasis on had - last I saw you was after your pregnancy and you were racking on the pounds :-(
Shannan - on singing ability alone you should be a success, but your also an extremely intelligent woman who's always on the go. A regular go-getter! And it doesn't hurt that you have a booty that can stop traffic! (your words not mine :-)
Chonna - you've been my pseudo-friend for some time. Despite your supposed engagement I don't think that you'll ever get married; you'll probably never be truly happy; shyness impedes your ability to become independent; your very beautiful even though you don't realize it.
(Ok, I know I probably included to many gratuitous booty references, but I'm a man. A sick, lonely, and horny man :-)
Short-sighted-rotund-conservative-columnist Tony Blankley recently blathered in a fit of anger that the solution to the war on terrorism was to "kill all of them!" Bravo Mr. Blankley for your well thought plan to extinguish the threat posed against our country. Of course in your plan your not required to kill anyone. That will be left up to the poor and under-privileged Americans who make up our military. In fairness to lard-ass maybe he actually is on to something - after all his "kill all of them" solution is what worked for the imperialists in Vietnam, Algeria, Angola, Mozambique, and Lebanon.
Uhhh, bad examples...
Hallelujah! The terrible events on the ground in Iraq may bring an end to the war-bloggers - arguably the most misguided group of people in the history of the internet (how that for sweeping statements? :-)
The warblog drums are growing silent.
They're either running out of time, or money, or steam, or the conviction that Operation Iraqi Freedom was going to be a cakewalk in the sand.
If the above makes no sense to you, then you have not been paying attention to the chest-thumping chaterati of the cybersphere, a post 9/11 class of might-is-right and right-is-might wordsmiths who rode the "War on terror" wave with their warmongering web logs.
But now, with the news getting more dire, the quag more mired and the cost of war ever higher, the warbloggers find themselves on the wrong side of history. And so some of them are putting down their mice and putting up a white flag.
But my favorite part of the article is this statement by a war-blogger:
"Where is everybody?"
HAAAAHAAA - that is seriously funny! Keep hanging in there buddy.
I want to address some problems that I had with the 60 Minutes segment "The New French Revolution" that was aired yesterday evening. I think that it's unjust to considered the large Islamic population of France as strictly an Arab community. Lets not forget that many of these people come from nations in West Africa - such as Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, etc.
A simple geography lesson should fix statements such as the following:
When people talk about ghettos in France, they're talking about high-rise complexes that have been built far away from the city center to house African and Arab immigrants.
African and Arab? Seems kind of redundant since most of the Arabs in France come from Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco which are in Africa last time I checked.
and what about this:
many of them live in neglected public housing projects, ruled by violent gangs and increasingly susceptible to Islamic fundamentalism...Just saying you live in the neighborhood is enough to get your job application thrown in the garbage. And the unemployment amongst young people is 4 times the national average.
France keeps these people on the margins of their society and they wonder why they haven't become integrated into the French way of life? Please don't tell me that the French are this stupid. And this is coming from a guy(myself) who loves French culture. However, I did fail my French course last semester :-( - so what do I know?!
Lastly I want to talk about the issue of rape - this shouldn't be looked at as an Arab issue - it's a societal problem that should be handled without the finger pointing that appears to be going on here. This is just more of the West wagging it's fingers at naughty Arab behavior.
This reminds me of a article that I read yesterday about a series of rapes that occurred in Australia that were sensationalized by the media because the perpetrators were Muslim. It didn't seem to matter to the hype artists that the rapists were completely alienated from their faith. I shouldn't be surprise - it's a typical response - Hide your daughters! The Muslims are on the prowl! Something tells me that if the perpetrators where Euro-Rugby players that the case wouldn't spark questions about the presence of Christianity in Australian society.
The Peril of the Crescent is in full effect.
I'm fully aware that the US media is obsessed with the class of civilizations between the Arabs and the West, but I'll be damned if I'm going to except it.
To all reporters:
Don't Forget the Facts, and Leave Your Biases at the Door (unless you're a conservative blogger)
Rant Over
Michael Moore now says that the Bush Administration is trying to stop the release of his film Fahrenheit 9/11 - Typical right-wing anti-democratic meddling
But the real news here is that Moore snuck his film crews into Iraq as undercover embedded reporters! Moore does it again - this is going to be volcanic!
My prayers will be answered if this film sinks the popular perception of Bush once and for all. If it doesn't and he's re-elected I have to seriously think about moving to Canada.
Looks like I'll need a new winter coat, eh?

After much contemplation I want to issue an apology to Colin Powell for the 'ugly American' comment in my last post. You are clearly the most handsome amongst Bush's Boys, and I give my sincerest regrets for not recognizing this fact in my enthusiasm to smear you and your ridiculous stance on the issues.
A thousand sorries great sir.
Looks like Powell is barking up the wrong tree - AGAIN. It's time to realize that the Arab world is adult enough to pick and choose their own outrages. I mean think about - the Iraqi body count is in the thousands, but Powell is concerned with the lack of talk-time given to the Berg execution? Despite what Powell thinks the Berg execution, the abuse of Iraqi prisoners, the human cost of the war, etc., are all intertwined in the Arab World's perception of the conflict he helped start. To pretend as if there is no relation is BS. Powell should also be thankful for the condemnation the killing of Berg did receive. It was condemned by a number of Arab governments, and by (you won't believe these next two!!??) Hezbollah, and Hamas. What more does he want? Prayer vigils, and protests in the street? There is another thing to consider - if the Arab World did show a reaction more to Powell's liking would it had been an indication of their sympathy for the American cause in Iraq? Hell no! The whole thing is ridiculous - he's taking a stand on a issue that has little impact as long as the USA continues it's failed Iraqi policy. All Powell has accomplished is showing that he's just another ugly American who think he has the moral authority to wag his finger at the naughty Arabs - while we're presently killing Arabs by the thousands. Smart move.
I guess I shouldn't expect much from the guy who thinks that nothing has gone wrong in Iraq (!!!???)
Is anyone really surprise by these accusations? If you still believe that Daffy Donald Dumsfeld was concerned with the well-being of Iraqi prisoners I have some Dallas Maverick NBA Final Tickets to sell you (I'm serious! Front row center - free concessions - email me :-)
And to all of you still ignorant of this - Sleep Deprivation is a Form of Torture! Your body needs adequate amounts of sleep to function properly. Just give me a visit after one of my all-night study sessions if you'll like some proof! Why don't they just go the distance and deprive prisoners of food and water (sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm..)
The frivolous nature of the internet is at times frustrating - very few things of substance exist online, and what few things that are of value usually do not last. Either they vanish without a trace, or fail because of chronic misuse. The only thing that is truly of value online for myself is communication, but sadly the lack of quality communication has been one of the most disappointing features of my internet experience. An internet life is a lonely life. Fortunately for me I thrive in a state of loneliness. The feeling of loneliness makes my mind sharper, and improves my dedication to tasks such as maintaining this blog. But how can I mesh the feeling of freedom I achieve through loneliness with my need to find feminine companionship. The two are on opposing ends of a see-saw - both fighting to maintain contact with the ground.

This article on the economic progress of India just cements my disbelief in neo-liberal economic policies.
"India is not shining; the BJP is shining, and those are two different things altogether," says Dipankar Gupta, a sociologist at Jawaharlal Nehru University. "People who have jobs are getting lots of money, but those who don't have jobs, don't. If you look at public hospitals, they're a mess, the railways are a mess, the water is dangerous to drink. We have yet a lot to achieve."
Indeed, even the signs of prosperity - call centers, computer software developers, and so on - have a feel of desperation. These positions number roughly 1 million, a small fraction of the India's 400 million workforce.
At call centers it's common to see hundreds of college graduates apply for a few dozen jobs. And while the private sector has begun to create jobs, mainly in major metropolitan areas, it has not been able to keep up with the 700,000 new job seekers entering the workforce each year.
"For five years, they haven't created one job, but they've added 5 million new unemployed people," says Prem Shankar Jha, a senior political analyst. "They haven't done a thing for the real people of this country."
What is really needed is improvements in social services and PROTECTIONISM. Neo-liberalism opens up a poor country to Western multi-national firms who by their competitive nature destroy more jobs then they create. A few in the upper-classes in these countries will benefit, but the long term effect is the widening of social inequalities.
Looks like I'm becoming one of those bloggers who is completely obsessed with their own status in the blog world (isn't it obvious? :-) I just spent an ungodly amount of time adding this blog to numerous blog directories that I am to lazy to list here - thankfully some dude has already put in the effort - You have to love the dedication of some bloggers.
The family of slain American Nicholas Berg speaks the truth:
Family accuses U.S. government
Berg's brother David on Wednesday told reporters outside his family's house that the U.S. position is false. He said the family received e-mails from Berg after his release in which he made clear he had been held by U.S. forces.
In an interview with Boston radio station WBUR on Tuesday, Berg's father, Michael, said: "I still hold (Rumsfeld) responsible because if they had let him ago after a more reasonable amount of time or if they had given him access to lawyers we could have gotten him out of there before the hostilities escalated.
"That's really what cost my son his life was the fact that the U.S. government saw fit to keep him in custody for 13 days without any of his due process or civil rights and released him when they were good and ready."
The interviewer asked, "Do you really blame Donald Rumsfeld for your son's death? And will you do anything in addition to that lawsuit you had filed?"
Michael Berg responded, "It goes further then Donald Rumsfeld. It's the whole Patriot Act, it's the whole feeling of this country that rights don't matter anymore because there are terrorists about.
"Well, in my opinion 'terrorist' is just another word like 'communist' or 'witch' and it's a witch hunt, and this whole administration is just representing something that is not America, not the America I grew up in."

Online Dating: from Chic to Geek
We live in an age in which people feel the need to constantly proclaim how cool they are. You see this on reality TV, on college campuses, and on every street corner in the USA. I'm totally against this - I've never been cool, never will be cool, and don't want to be cool. This attitude of mine is reflected in the way that I interact with fellow humans, and the things I spend all my sh!t-time doing. Why do you think that I'm on the web? It's the biggest invention in geekdom since video games, and comic books. Unfortunately the women on online dating sites couldn't disagree with me more. They spend so much effort into making themselves look like the social beings that they aren't. They post thousands of pics of their friends, wearing the latest outfits, and (my personal favorite) shouting about how much of a geek they aren't. Yeah right! I bet that they learned all that html while at bars and night-clubs! I know the real deal - you do these things because the popular culture of this country is strongly anti-intellectual. The more ignorant somethings is in this culture the more socially acceptable it becomes. Today this is true from MTV to the current administration in the White House. But on your individual web-profile you have the power to buck this trend. So please stop being silly! You'll find that simple tricks like Including a few big words in your profile will scare away most of the egotistical jerks. Leaving behind a mass of geeky guys - who you know in your heart are better partners anyway. Just remember to put your glasses back on and admit your nerdiness. It's very liberating.

This is funny because I try to make sure that I don't offend anyone. I've never had anyone react to my stupid little messages like this, but it just goes to show that no matter how careful you try to be in approaching a situation there is always going to be some person who thinks you're full of sh!t.

Not sure yet on how I feel about Bloggers' Dashboard - I personally didn't think that a change was needed, but now that it's here I don't hate it -
That being said, I can understand why some people may be angry:
1) They were familiar with the old set-up
2) It's possible that they are uncomfortable with of all kinds change
(or the most likely reason...)
3) They just like to complain!
Bitching Blogger: How dare they change everything! It was just the way I liked it! Now you have to go through manage posts instead of Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...

D-Day - another liberal blogger posting links and complaining about Bush. Not to sound negative - it's a good thing.
Black Star Journal - an ex-peace corp volunteer brings you the African news absent from most mainstream American news outlets.

Africa by Bike: A Journey from Cairo to Capetown - Great story/adventure - too light on social commentary, but still good - Hate to sound skeptical, but I really hope that this blog isn't BS - it's the reverse of a trip found in the book "Cape to Cairo" by David Ewing Duncan.
50 Years After Brown V. Board of Education - commemorating the 50th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court case - great idea for a blog and an excellent resource for students, history buffs, and the ignorant multitudes who know nothing of the battle for civil-rights. This is one of those blogs with a short shelf life - B. V. B. is timeless, but celebrating the 50th anniversary is a one shot deal - I would think that updates will become more and more sporadic as we get closer to the end of the year (the anniversary date of the Supreme court ruling is May 17) - The upside for the blog is that currently there is a nice amount of press coverage to sift through for links - a google news search for Brown v. Board of Education yields over 800 results.
I've decided to update my "Serena Williams Versus Jennifer Lopez" page since all my search engine hits are from guys searching for pics of Serena Williams' booty.
Not one JLO seach hit yet (I told you that her win was bogus!)
It's great that I can be of help to you guys out there :-) see the new and improved page.
My friend CG just sent me this:
CG: This is a REAL disease! - Maple Syrup Urine Disease
DH: Sounds like a disease with an image problem.
They should REALLY think about changing the name. On the surface it sounds too pleasant (unless you hate pancakes & waffles). They should call it Deadly Sweet Urine Disease - then people will take it seriously.

It's painfully obvious that most of the women I contact online are completely outside of my league. They also live too far away and probably spend little to no time online outside of the time it takes to update their pics. It's such a colossal waste of time, but atleast it feels like I'm doing something in the dating realm. No matter how pathetic 'something' really is.

And having never sat through a complete episode - not even in re-runs (for some reason I'm proud of this fact).

Another article on Michael Moore and Fahrenheit 9/11 - Michael Moore's An Angry Man, Again - Don't really get what the author's beef is here. He seems to be implying that Moore is only making a stink about this whole Disney affair for publicity sake. I don't agree, but even if I did I wouldn't care. Moore is one of the few people in entertainment who has the balls to expose the injustices inflicted on everyday people by the policies of the right. For this reason I'm willing to cut him some slack.
Dating and the Single Blogger
If your looking for a sign that substantiates that you're completely clueless when it comes to dating I think reading this article should do. I really appreciates what Blogger is trying to do, but if your so desperate that you have to go to Blogger for dating advice you know that your a lost cause. I should know - I am the living definition of the term lost cause - and having read the Blogger article out of necessity several times - I believe that I am in the position to point a finger at myself and all you other dateless wonders out there.
I'm trying the online dating thing, but it isn't the magic bullet some may think that it is. I love how easy it is to search dating profiles in the privacy of our own homes while wearing pajamas at 2am. But just because it's easy doesn't mean that it will always work. Is it realistic to think that some guy who is a loser with the opposite sex in the real world will become some Casanova super-stud online? I guess with a heavy does of lying anything is possible. But you know that sooner or later the truth will come out. Then what?
Some of us just have to face up the realities that we are the odd men out. For whatever reason - looks, money, personality, or just plain old bad luck - we are locked out of the whole dating scene. I don't want to sound like there is no hope for guys like me, but I want to be realistic. When your a dateless guy you always think that things will improve as your life progresses. When your in junior high you can't wait to get to high school because there things will be different - you'll reinvent yourself and become some new cool person over night. When this doesn't happen you switch to pining your hopes on getting your first job, or getting into college. But you continue to fail because none of these things will help you with your problems in attracting a mate if you don't posses certain social skills.
I'm still trying to learn the way forward - at the present I'll just keep banging away with the few tools that I have.

MSN Groups Are Hard To Keep Going... - not really a discussion, but it does bring up an interesting problem that I've had to deal with in the past. Moderating a web group is one of the most difficult task I've ever undertook. In the beginning you do gain some satisfaction from people joining your group.Unfortunately this gets old real quick. I ran a Yahoo! group called the "Philadelphia Writers Guild" for several months. Somehow I managed to attract 180+ members, but I couldn't get anyone to take part in events offline. Not one single person would show up at the weekly meetings that I set up at the main library in town. After a while I thought, "Why am I doing this?" Maintaining the group was requiring too much effort, and the feedback from members was shrinking. I mean it's bad enough that no one bothered to show up to meetings, but what's the point in keeping a group going when posting messages becomes too much of a chore for your membership. I eventually decided to delete the group.
That's also when I decided to become a blogger.
I looking forward to filmmaker Michael Moore's latest - Fahrenheit 9/11 - hopefully this situation doesn't lead to a prolonged legal battle to get the film shown :-(
The point of this whole thing is this - Disney is a major multinational corporation and they know that their money-making ethos is best served through promoting a conservative agenda. Sure Moore's film will make them money - but another $100 million to a muti-billion dollar company is chicken feed || F**king with Moore's film is strictly a business decision. Now even if the movie is released by Marimax - through a dummy company, or however they choose to do it - Disney has made their views on the film clear to all the conservative ideologues out there.
Our desperation to succeed in Iraq has caused our country to align itself with some of the most despicable characters possible. But this should be expected - the ideological differences between the ex-warriors of Apartheid, Serbian death squads, and Bush's New World Order brigade is very slim. They're comrades in arms united at last in the fight against their common enemy - which is any people in a popular revolt against tyranny.
If I close my eyes I can imagine a scene of three men sitting at a bar in a Baghdad hotel - one American - one Serb - one South African - sucking down beers - yucking it up like old friends - discussing their favorite kills.
There was a quote of Noam Chomsky which I chose not to include on yesterdays blog - which fits this current discussion:
"I have often thought that if a rational Fascist dictatorship were to exist, then it would choose the American system."

Anyone who has seen the Brazilian films City of God, or Bus 174 knows that crime in Rio is completely out of control. But to rob an air force armory?! That's beyond belief! That takes a mixture of balls and insanity.
Anywhere you look in the world - a corrupt police force and extreme urban poverty is a deadly combination. Remember the LA Riots?
Breathe a sigh of relief Iraqi victims of American torture - Daffy Donald Rumsfeld is on the case!
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said Tuesday he will take "all measures necessary" to ensure that abuse of detainees such as what a Pentagon report says took place at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq "does not happen again."
That's sounds like bull to me - it would appear that they're only making a big deal about this for damage control purposes. The abuse just wasn't a priority. It wouldn't have happened if it was.
Pentagon spokesman Lawrence Di Rita told reporters Monday that the U.S. military learned of the alleged abuse January 13, when a soldier in a police unit reported it to his chain of command. The criminal investigation began the next day, he said. Di Rita said Monday that Rumsfeld had not read or been briefed on the report. The first time the defense secretary saw the photos was when they were broadcast on TV last Wednesday.
Now that's being a proactive Defense Secretary! How is it possible that he first saw the visual evidence of torture at exactly the same time that I did when it was broadcast on 60 Minutes II? What does he do all day? No one showed or told him sh!t from Jan.13-Apr.28?
If I were an Iraqi prisoner I would feel sooo safe right now.

I think that we all saw this coming - "Fourth HIV Case Found In CA Porn Industry" - rumor has it that the transsexual actor/actress(?) mentioned in the article is the source of the outbreak - of course the Black Man took all the early heat! Hopefully it's now contained - the other good thing is that they're only suggesting more stringent HIV testing and not talking about banning the porn industry outright - if the proposed regulation will make the performers more safe I'm all for it - the illustrious power brokers and pimps of the porn business can only blame themselves for this - Porn was increasing being geared towards the most twisted sexual interests possible - pissing - shiting - vomiting - How is that sexual? Maybe this crisis will tone things done a bit.
Blogs of the moment
Philadelphia Bus Stop - Life and public transportation in the City of Brotherly Love. Being a Philly resident myself I'm familiar with most of the places in the blog - good stuff.
Desi LawFool! - The opinions of an Indian law student living in the American Mid-West - good writing and I didn't notice a single link within any messages posted on the entire first page! - very unusual, but also a refreshing change from the average link happy blog (DH included). However I wonder how long he'll be able to keep this up - links do provide readers with necessary background information and help substantiate a bloggers position. They can also give the appearance that a blog has greater content then it actually has. I'll be checking this blog for further developments...
Wanderings of a Madman - this blogger shouldn't sell himself short - I find his opinions to be perfectly sane! - It's possible that the title is just a joke - whatever the case you should read this blog - where else can you read the thoughts of a progressive, anti-war, Christian, hockey player?
Journal of a Beatnik - a new blog written by an unemployed writer (boy can I empathize!) in the Beat style of Jack Kerouac - I really like what I see so far - hopefully he'll keep at it...
Terrace Musing - I'm not really sure why I like this sparsely posted blog so much - maybe it's the style, emotion, or the total Indian gloominess of the whole thing - for some reason it works...

Gennaro Gattuso - Midfielder
Paolo Maldini - Defender
Kaka - Midfielder
Alessandro Nesta - Defender

You go online to meet interesting people - but the end result is that you stay in the house all day online - you find that there isn't sh!t on the net - and you don't meet any real people because your locked away from the rest of humanity. My advice would be to not get obsessive about the situation - live your life the best way you can - but if your thinking, "That advice stinks!" - you might want to go here - I actually took one of their self tests - receiving a score of 38 - which apparently means that I'm an average online user - who sometimes spends to much time online - but that I have control over my usage.
"The Revolution Will Not Be Blogged" - Long-winded article from Mother Jones - to tell the truth I just skimmed through the first few paragraphs - didn't seem to be saying much - but I thought some of my readers would find it interesting - Question: Am I the only one that is sick of blogs that are purely political? Don't get me wrong - I read a few myself - but the disproportionate coverage these political bloggers get is just ridiculous. What's so revolutionary about putting up links to the NY Times and Washington Post? Many don't even provide any real commentary - leaving that up to their visitors in the comments section.
